Johannes Jung or John Young, as he called himself in the United States, was a Kornett player, like his brother Daniel. He took several trips as musician. In January 1881 he emigrated into the United States, his brother Daniel followed him during summer of the same year.
Until his death he lived in Duluth, Minnesota, at Lake Superior. Between 1880 (?) and 1915 he played with several local bands: Flaaten's Orchestra, Lyceum Theatre, Third Regiments Band and in Duluth City band, were he was treasurer for a time.
He died at the age of 88 years in Duluth.
